Several Questions this time open to all AMV makers
« on: August 28, 2007, 07:07:51 pm »
Thanks if you are going to respond to this and taking your time to answer my questions:

1. What do you feel is the best movie editing program?

some examples include Adobe Premiere, Ulead 11, Magix Movie Edit, Windows Movie Maker, Video Wave, etc

2. About how long does it take for you to make an AMV?

-a low quality 30 second - 1 minute AMV
-a high quality 1-2min + AMV

3. What do you use as your major plugins?

~~~~
And since i'm a beginner, some more "noobish" questions
1. How do you create a bluescreen over certain characters?
for example, i've seen AMVs where a character is doing something over a different scenery than normal
i.e. if naruto is eatting ramen in a scene, after editing, he'll be eating ramen on top of a tree >.>
2. what is rotoscoping? O_o
~~~~

thanks a million, i'd like to learn how to make some AMVs in the future, so tutorials would be wonderful  ;D

2. best editing program..s... I'd say a combination of Premiere pro as core and After Effects for the visual flashy part and Photoshop.

2. from 5-50 minutes on an average scale.

I like the Cycore and Sapphire plugins. And sometimes I also use the Trapcode plugins. I've got a bunch but I try to restrain myself a bit.

newb Q 1. you either mask an area or character out or key it out. I recommend lightkey for keying. you can either mask the person in photoshop or in the video editing program. After Effect's got a pretty handy pen tool for the masking part

newb Q 2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rotoscope

I used Windows Movie Maker for my early editing but moved into Adobe Premiere 6.0-6.5 after 2002. I used MS Paint for most of my rotoscoping...

I say Premiere Pro + Photoshop are the most essential. I really only use After Effects for masking nowadays, but I wanna try to explore it more.

First After Effects then Premiere Pro.

My early editing software was Magix Movie Edit its great for amateurs, somehow limited compared to Premiere imo.

I only use Sony Vegas 7v. because it's simple to use it, but it's still has a lot of bad things.. reading not all formats..
Adobe Elements 5 is hard to use... it's for pro's, you know.. i'm not such a tuffguy :)
